Performance Pathway

British Athletics aims to establish a sustainable Performance Pathway in collaboration with the Home Countries to support the identification and development of junior athletes who have the potential to progress into successful senior medallists at the Olympic & Paralympic Games.

The objectives of the pathway are:

  • To inform how an athlete has to progress and develop in order to achieve success on the senior international stage.
  • To provide support that guides the progress of physical, mental and technical aspects of performance that are required to medal at senior international championships.
  • To increase the number of talented athletes medalling at youth, junior and senior internationals.

Dan is responsible for driving the Performance Pathway strategy for Olympic athlete and coach pairings, identification and development, and working closely with the home nations to implement a system which supports the progression of junior athletes onto the WCP who are capable of medalling at major championships.
