A total of 54 coaches have enrolled for the UK Combined Events Conference at Loughborough University on Sunday 15 October.

The timetable has been designed to give them a full briefing on UK Athletics’ plans to develop this increasingly successful area of the sport: Dean Macey and Kelly Sotherton won Commonwealth titles this year while European Junior Champion Jessica Ennis led Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Teams to unprecedented high placings at this summer’s European Cup of Combined Events.

The coaches will also be able to choose to attend three sessions aimed at improving their knowledge of specific needs of their athletes. The options are: core stability and injury prevention, explained by English Institute of Sport physiotherapist Alison Latham, high jump by Terry Lomax, pole vault by Jim Alexander, long jump by John Crotty and hurdles by Ian Grant, while the advice on the shot, discus and javelin will be provided by experts at the UK Throws Conference going ahead simultaneously.
