Women's Team

The Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Women’s Team will travel to Vaasa in Finland for their European Cup First League match on 23-24 June 2007.

They will face the Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Slovak Republic and Sweden, who were relegated with them from the SPAR European Cup this summer.

The venue was confirmed today by the European AA. Vaasa is a coastal town in western Finland with a population of less than 60,000 that has been completely rebuilt since 1852, when a fire destroyed virtually every building.

As previously announced, the SPAR European Cup will take place in Munich, Germany, on the same weekend. The Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Men’s team will face Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

The Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Teams will have to wait to see where their European Cup Combined Events matches will be staged on 7-8 July 2007.

As the First League Men’s match will be held at the same venue as the Super League Women’s contest, they know they will be in the same stadium, but the actual location still has to be confirmed.

The Norwich Union GB ‘Super Women’ – whose young team was led to fourth place in this summer’s competition by Jessica Ennis – will face reigning Champions Russia, Finland, France, Greece, Poland, Sweden and Ukraine.

The Norwich Union GB Men’s Team – who retained their First league status this year despite the average age of the team being only 21- will be against Belgium, Finland, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Sweden and Ukraine.

The EAA also announced that the 2007 European Mountain Running Championships will take place at Cauterets, France.
