Dwain Chambers has pulled out of Friday night's Norwich Union London Grand Prix after failing to recover from a thigh injury he suffered at the European trials in Manchester a fortnight ago.

Chambers has not sufficiently recovered despite pulling out of the final of the 100 metres as a precautionary measure at the

trials for next month's European Championships in Gothenburg.

The 28-year-old, who only returned from a two-year drug suspension last month, was set to prove his fitness at the IAAF Super Grand Prix meeting where he was scheduled to face joint world-record holder Asafa Powell.

But the Londoner, who is the fastest Briton over 100 metres this year, realised it is too early to make a return at this level.

However, Chambers will still be considered for selection for the trip to Sweden when the final names of the side are announced after Friday's meeting.
