Following the nomination process undertaken between 15 May and 30 June, elections open on 14 August for representatives of clubs, coaches, and officials to join the UK Members Council. Ballot papers and manifestos have been distributed to all club secretaries across the UK, all coaches at UKA Level 2 and above, and all Technical Officials at the equivalent of Level 2 and above. The election process is fully explained within the pack being sent to voters.  The ballot will close on 29 September, and the votes cast in the election are being counted by  Electoral Reform Services. The UK Members Council is the custodian of the long-term interests of athletics in the UK, and ensures the accountability of UK Athletics Ltd by overseeing its strategic direction.

To ensure that the activities of UK Athletics are endorsed by the sport as a whole, the UK Members Council will consist of:

  • a representative from each of the four National Associations (England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Wales Athletics and the Northern Ireland Athletics Federation)

  • two club representatives from clubs with a track and field section

  • one representative from a non track and field club

  • one person each representing coaching and officials

  • any Briton serving as an IAAF Council Member

  • up to two additional members selected by the Council for their expertise, ideally with the experience of being an international athlete.

The representatives of the clubs, coaches and officials will be elected on a four-year cycle and the above will then come together to form an ‘electoral college’ to elect the President and Vice-President.

Graham Jessop was the only person nominated by non track and field clubs and thereby is duly elected.
