British sprinters Jason Gardener, Mark Lewis-Francis and Marlon Devonish all missed out on a place in the 100 metres final at tonight's IAAF Golden League meeting in Oslo.

The trio, part of the 4x100m team which won Olympic gold with Darren Campbell in 2004, were never in contention.

Gardener, still not fully recovered from the back injury which ruined his Commonwealth Games ambitions in March, was fourth in the quickest heat of the night.

But his time, a season's best of 10.37 seconds, was no match for his rivals with Asafa Powell, Jamaica's joint world record-holder, flying home in 9.96secs.

Lewis-Francis, who has prepared for the summer season in Florida, clocked 10.28 for fifth in his race, won by America's Olympic 200m champion Shawn Crawford in 10.01sec.

Devonish placed fifth in 10.29sec as his qualifying race was won by Trinidad and Tobago's Marc Burns in 10.11.
