Great Britain and Northern Ireland will be represented by two clubs at the European Champion Clubs Cup which take place this weekend at Vila Real de Santo Antonio in Portugal.

After winning the 2013 British Athletics League Premiership, Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers will be the British club competing in the men’s event against the best teams from across Europe.

Sebastian Rodger (coach: James Hillier), who competed at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow last summer, will be one of the Shaftesbury names to look out for as he lines up in the men’s 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay.

British shot put champion Zane Duquemin (John Hillier), European under 23 high jump bronze medallist Allan Smith (Fuzz Ahmed), British indoor long jump silver medallist Dan Bramble (Frank Attoh) and former European Cross Country silver medallist Richard Goodman (Mick Woods) who will all represent the London club in Portugal.

Meanwhile, British representation in the women’s event will come from UK Women’s Athletics League champions Edinburgh AC.

Emily Dudgeon (Stuart Hogg) will go to the Algarve town in good 800m form after taking an impressive victory in a time of 2:02.67 at the Loughborough International last weekend.

2013 British Universities and England Athletics U23 champion Emily Stewart will line up in the 3,000m steeplechase while Jayne Nisbet (Graham Ravenscroft), who took silver at the Sainsbury’s British Athletics Indoor Championships in Sheffield in February, will contest the high jump.
